Make It Right Prayer Highlight 8/29-9/2/11 Treasury/Fund Raising Function Committee

Make It Right Prayer Highlight 8/29-9/2/11 Treasury/Fund Raising Function Committee

The Treasury/Fund Raising Function Committee is chaired by Kathy Anderson of Greater Seattle Chapter with committee members Julie Sievert of South Puget Sound Chapter, Linda Duim of Greater Seattle, Jenny Moore of Kitsap Chapter and Deneen Blake of Eastside Chapter. Kathy Cooper at WOV Headquarters also works closely with this committee. Their tasks include arranging speaker and venue contracts, creating a budget, generating a Brown Paper Ticket Account, completing the final accounting and creating the fund-raising plan ensuring fairness between all chapters.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You because You promise in Your Word that if two or three are gathered in Your Name that You will be in midst of them and that if we ask anything according to Your Will that it will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Lord we come to You bowing down our will to Your Will and surrendering our notions and plans to Your perfect plan.

Lord, You know our hearts in this Event. We want to bless the poor and marginalized children and women with funds that will allow the World Vision staff working within each project we sponsor to do more to make it right for these victims of injustices. We understand that funding is not the only way that this can happen, but we also realize that money is necessary for so many of the needs to be met. You know that we do not ask for ourselves, but for those we serve in these projects; hence, we come before You boldly asking that You will give each of these committee members wisdom, accuracy and knowledge as they perform the tasks assigned to them.

We ask that You would go before this committee and justify all accounting, credit the correct accounts and raise sufficient funds so that there is an abundance of overage to give after expenses are met. Lord, in faith we believe that you will raise the funds that You want to raise and we ask that You would show us what to do to fulfill Your plan in this.

Thank you for each of these committee members, some of whom have worked many hours. Bless them and their families for the sacrifices of time and talents that they have made for this Event. Encourage them as they spend more time before, during and after the evening of September 18th completing with their final tasks.

Lord, we anticipate that the bottom line of our financial picture will be glorious because of You. Thank you for these women who have done their best  as they have served behind the scenes for the success of this Event.

We love You, Jesus, and are so grateful to be Your women, serving You bringing Light to the darkness. In Your Name we pray. Amen.

Make It Right Prayer Highlight 8/22-26/11 Registration/Check-in/Information

Make It Right Prayer Highlight 8/22-26/11 Registration/Check-in/Information

Make It Right Prayer Highlight 8/22-26/11 Registration/Check-in/Information Committee’s lead is Tina Veer and her committee is made up of volunteers Karen Marion (South Puget Sound), Jackie Kinunen and Debbie Green (Greater Seattle) and Heather Perry and Sarah Tandon, WOV Interns. Their responsibilities include tending the welcome table, checking in guests, maintaining an attendance list, creating name tags and serving as greeters.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We know that you care about every detail of our Make It Right Event. We lift this committee before You and ask that You would help each woman on this committee with the “details” that this committee is responsible for during the evening.

Help the Brown Paper Tickets list and any other lists that are created to jive together. Help Tina as she organizes the lists and name tags. Thank you for the plan that will be prepared in advance for the lists and name tags. We ask that no names are missing. We ask that through this committee functioning as a team that all guests feel welcomed.

Give each team member grace as they greet guests and possibly escort them to tables and welcome them to the Hyatt. Help them to be patient and knowledgable, anticipating questions or needs that guests may have as they arrive.

These will be some of the final touches to this event. We ask that they would be done professionally. We ask that care would be given by each committee member.
Lord, we are blessed that we can come to You knowing that you care about everything that needs to come together to make this event run smoothly. Thank you for hearing our prayers. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen

August Devotional

PRAYER IN THE FATHER'S HEARING
" Father, I thank Thee that Thou hast heard Me." John 11:41

When the Son of God prays, He has only one consciousness, and that consciousness is of His Father.
God always hears the prayers of His Son, and if the Son of God is formed in me the Father will always
hear my prayers. I have to see that the Son of God is manifested in my mortal flesh. "Your body is the
temple of the Holy Ghost," i.e.,the Bethlehem of the Son of God. Is the Son of God getting His chance
in me? Is the direct simplicity of the life of God's Son being worked out exactly as it was worked out in His historic life? When I come in contact with the occurrences of life as an ordinary human being, is the prayer of God's Eternal Son to His Father being prayed in me? "In that day ye shall ask in My name. . . ." What day? The day when the Holy Ghost has come to me and made me effectually one with my Lord.

Is the Lord Jesus Christ being abundantly satisfied in your life or have you got a spiritual strut on?
Never let common sense obtrude and push the Son of God on one side. Common sense is a gift which
God gave to human nature; but common sense is not the gift of His Son.Supernatural sense is the gift
of His Son; never enthrone commonsense. The Son detects the Father; common sense never yet
detected the Father and never will. Our ordinary wits never worship God unless they are transfigured
by the indwelling Son of God. We have to see that this mortal flesh is kept in perfect subjection to Him and that He works through it moment by moment. Are we living in such human dependence upon Jesus Christ that His life is being manifested moment by moment?

Make It Right Prayer Highlight 8/15-19/11 Program Committee

Make It Right Prayer Highlight 8/15-19/11
Program Committee

The  Program Committee has been doing incredible things including securing a Master of Ceremonies, working with Renee Stearns, creating a program schedule, designing a table plan and layout for the Grand Ballroom, arranging for five cash bars, creating table center piece ideas, obtaining musicians and vocalists, printing the program, determining the menu and selecting World Vision videos and a slide presentation This talented committee is chaired by Annie Brandt who is assisted by Beth Yeager (National Chapter Advisor), Patty Dalrymple (South Puget Sound/Greater Seattle), Katrin Dietz (South Puget Sound), Zeena Smith (South Puget Sound) and Deanna Talbert (Eastside).

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to you in the Name of Jesus praising You and thanking You in our hearts. . .Lord we are humbled by Your call on our lives and grateful that You promise us that He who calls is faithful and will do it.

Thank you for this Program Committee and all that they have accomplished in preparation for this event. Lord in looking at the list, it is amazing to see all that has been done yet we know that when we give You our best that You multiply efforts and feed 5,000! We ask that You would take the efforts of this Committee and use them to bless 500+ attendees to receive the gifts of a welcoming venue, delicious food and drinks, and a well-presented program.  May children and women in our Chapter Projects benefit from the efforts of this committee from funds raised as a result of their work.
Thank you that Tim and Chitra Hamstad have agreed to be co-emcees. Bless their lives in ways that we cannot think or ask as they prepare, present and ponder the evening's events. Keep them in Your protective care and give them strength and health. Use them to bring harmony into the flow of this event as they orchestrate each piece to come together to create a lovely melody pleasing to You and those in attendance.

Thank you for the Children's Choir and the String Quartet who will be performing during the evening. We ask for safety in travels for each individual. Thank you for protecting their instruments. We ask that you would bless each child and adult. Thank you for causing each vocalist and musician to perform their best and at their highest level to honor and glorify You with their excellence.

Lord, there is so much that needs to come together and work during this small time frame of life. There has been and will be so much preparation. Help us to be mindful of the important things in all of this. Help each of us participating in the evening to be gracious and be Your Hands extended to those we encounter. We pray for the salvation of the lost. Call them to Yourself through this program. Touch and soften hearts so that seeds planted will fall on fertile soil.

We love You, Jesus and ask these things in Your matchless Name. Amen.

Make It Right Prayer Highlight 8/8-12/11 Displays/Video Committee

Make It Right Prayer Highlight 8/8-12/11
Displays/Video Committee

The Displays and Videos Committee is headed up by Julie Duim from the Eastside Chapter and Angie Nolting from the Kitsap Chapter. Additionally, serving on this committee are Cherri Mann, Jackie Varela and Gina Jones all from Eastside and Holly Pennington from South Puget Sound Chapter. Their responsibility is to invite organizations that support anti-human trafficking to set up booths at the "Make It Right" Event as well as coordinate the Washington Chapter's table. They will also create a slide presentation and select videos for the evening.

They are seeking organizations that provide informational materials, not solicit donations and are different than Women of Vision that provide an educational component that is different than WOV: legislation, local involvement,  or power of purchasing free trade. The maximum number of booths is 15 with these being contacted so far: Not for Sale, Washington Engaged (Rose Gunderson), Shared Hope, Charisma and Esteem ( Tiffany Bloom), Theo’s Chocolate, The body shop, Cafe’ Latro, Piro Vita Coffee, and  Seattle Against Slavery.

There will also be a combined table representing Women of Vision and each Washington Chapter with a brochure for the table from each chapter, as well as a calendar and a map for each chapter. There will be a World Vision Child Sponsorship table with children in higher trafficking areas, distributed at ten children from each chapter. A book table will be set up with 40-50 copies of Half the Sky as well as about 13 previously signed books by Sheryl WuDunn.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to You in the Name of Jesus, praising You that You have given us another day to serve You. Thank you that we live in America and that You have blessed our Nation. Help us to be humble and mindful of those who suffer around the world and help us to be seated in the heavenlies with You Lord, so that w can see things from your perspective and not ours.

Lord, we come to You in faith believing that You hear our prayers asking not for ourselves, but for the beneficiaries of our projects. We ask that You would open doors so that people will attend this event and respond to the educational information from Sheryl WuDunn and Renee Stearns. Move on their hearts to provide funds to further the work of the World Vision staff throughout the world.

Lord, thank you for this wonderful Committee who has worked diligently to solicit organizations with a heart for the victims of modern day slavery. Thank You that You will have the organizations of Your choosing man the booths at this event. Thank You that all of the needed World Vision and Women of Vision collateral will be gathered and displayed in a way that will draw interested viewers to respond  to the call to make a difference and Make It Right for victims. We praise You for Your Spirit of unity that will draw Committee members together, moving in one direction under the leadership of Julie and Angie. Thank you that on the evening of the event that things will flow smoothly with clarity and that tables will be ready by 2:00 PM as the participants arrive to set up their displays. We lift the responsibilities of this Committee and place then at Your feet awaiting the evidence of Your wonderful work through willing vessels.

Lord, the media presented through slides and videos are being created with one purpose and that is to show the attendees the dire needs of victims of human trafficking and slavery. Thank you for our Women of Vision Interns, Heather and Sara who have gathered the best pictures to portray this message. May the pictures touch hearts and generate action from the viewers. We ask that out of the hundreds of videos and pictures available from World Vision, that You would give this Committee along with Annie the wisdom to select the perfect ones that shout the message that we need to MAKE IT RIGHT! We entrust this important aspect of this event into Your Hands and anxiously await the extraordinary results that only You can orchestrate when we do our best and trust You for the rest.

Lord, we are weak and small yet we serve You, the God who takes the simple things of this world to confound the wise. Use us to confound the attendees of this event so that no one leaves the Hyatt the same. We ask that from the displays and from the slides and videos that people's hearts will be pierced by the oppression that women face globally and the opportunities that we have to make it right and make a difference in their lives. We ask that they would sponsor children, give of their time and talents and participate in the Care Give Kit build. We know that without You and Your blessing that this would be impossible. Hence, we humble ourselves daily before Your throne asking and trusting that You are working behind the scenes in ways that we cannot think or ask bringing together an event that will show Your power, majesty and glory.

We love You, Jesus and it is in your Name we pray!! Amen.

First Saturday Prayer August

First Saturday Prayer August
World Vision Hope Prayer Chain
August 2011

Pray for victims of human trafficking

Human trafficking is the recruitment and transport of a child or adult for the purposes of sexual exploitation or forced labor. If there is a situation that breaks the heart of God, it is the enslavement of His children. Sadly, there are more people enslaved today than at the height of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
Snapshot on Human Trafficking
  • Adults and
children in forced labor and sexual slavery: 12.3 million
  • Countries without adequate laws to prevent trafficking: 147
  • Countries with adequate laws to prevent trafficking: 31
  • Prevalence of trafficking victims in the world: 1.8 per 1,000
    persons
  • Money invested in human trafficking: $32 billion
Sources: State Department and UNICEF

Now is a critical time to help prevent this kind of slavery. On September 30, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act is due for renewal. The act was first passed in the United States in 2000 and is the largest piece of anti-
trafficking legislation in U.S. history. It created the first comprehensive
federal law to address human trafficking and other forms of modern-day
slavery, targeting both domestic and international aspects of the crime.

The act uses a three-pronged approach to combat trafficking:
prevention, protection, and prosecution. Because traffickers
continually change their methods to skirt the law, legislation needs to be
regularly updated. In particular, there is a critical need to expand federal
criminal jurisdiction to cover trafficking offenses committed abroad. This means an offender can be tried in the United States whether or not the crime was committed in the United States.

Meanwhile, World Vision has extensive programs to combat child trafficking and slavery — notably in Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Romania, and Mozambique. Programs include providing safe havens for trafficked children, counseling and vocational training to help children recover, reuniting trafficked children with their families, building
community awareness, and cooperation with authorities to identify and
prosecute traffickers. Please pray for these programs.

Pray for action. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the issue of human trafficking, but we can take action. We can speak out and insist that our
elected officials support legislation such as the Trafficking
Victims Protection Act, and we can support World Vision and other programs
to end trafficking and care for survivors.

Dear Lord, just as You helped Moses and Aaron as they spoke boldly
to Pharaoh on behalf of the Hebrew slaves in Egypt, help us speak up for
modern-day slaves around the world.

Extreme poverty is at the root of the vast majority of the world's trafficking. Poor families are vulnerable to the tactics of traffickers, who lure their victims with the promise of well-paying jobs in other cities or countries. Once isolated from their families, victims
are forced to work for little or no pay and brutalized if they try to resist.
One of the best ways to prevent human trafficking is to help families become self-sufficient.

Dear Lord, most of us reading this email will never experience the kind
of extreme poverty that millions of people live with every day. Help us to be understanding and compassionate toward their needs. Help us to love them in the way that You love them. Give us the will to make things better.

Children who are rescued from traffickers need a safe place to recover from abuse. It's common for their former captors to try to recover what they regard as their "property." World Vision provides survivors with emergency shelter, legal assistance, and counseling.

Dear Lord, You are a strong tower and a mighty fortress. Help Your
rescued children feel safe and begin to heal. Protect them from those who
seek to harm them.

Pray for restoration. Survivors of human trafficking often suffer
severe psychological damage. Their hearts and spirits have been assaulted
as much as their bodies. They are ashamed of what has happened to them.
World Vision homes provide a safe environment where children can recover
and share happier times with other youngsters. They also receive vocational training so that they have the chance to become financially secure and make
a fresh start.

Dear Lord, Your Word shows that You bring new joy and hope where
previously there was only shame and fear. We ask this for our brothers
and sisters, who desperately need to accept that they can be made new.

Pray for justice. The men and women who prey on the poor and the
innocent need to be arrested, prosecuted, and punished for their crimes.
The International Justice Mission has found that even a small number of
convictions can have a major impact in reducing trafficking crime. But
prosecuting traffickers can be difficult because survivors are terrified
to testify against them.

Dear Lord, You demand justice for those who have been wronged. Give
strength to those who investigate and prosecute traffickers. Encourage them when they are weary. Give courage to survivors when they are asked to testify against their former captors.

Make It Right Prayer Highlight 8/1-5/11 Communication and Marketing Committee

Make It Right Prayer Highlight
8/1-5/11 Communication and Marketing Committee

This week we are praying for the Communication and Marketing Committee for the Sheryl WuDunn "Make It Right" Event.  Our Committee Lead, Laura, has created a cutting edge communication plan stating that the purpose of the committee is to provide communication structure and strategy for driving underwriting, sponsorship and attendance at the “Make It right” event. The Event Vision is that we change the lives of sponsors and attendees by raising awareness of and commitment to global women’s issues. The Communication Goals are to receive commitment from underwriters to cover the cost of the event, to “Sell” 20 corporate sponsorships at $2500, to “Sell” 30 table sponsorships at $1500 and to “Sell” 150% of the remaining seats (~300) as tickets.

We need underwriters who are Corporate Sponsors that donate $10K, $15K, or $20 towards the event expenses. We need Table Sponsors who are Corporate and Individual sponsors who purchase a table at the $1500, $2500 or $5000 level. We need Individual Attendees who Individuals are purchasing tickets for the event. We need partners and friends from all four Washington Chapters promoting this event to “Sell” tickets to family, friends, and groups (WA trafficking groups), and that there be a blitz of posters and emails advertising the event in our local areas as well as advertising to Universities and College (30 days before the event).

We need to pray for all of the above and that the message of helping women and children in poverty overcome oppression is strong enough to move sponsors and individuals to action; that World Vision is successful in recruiting underwriters for the event and that “Force Multiplier” groups are willing to assist in selling.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to You in the Name of Jesus praising You and worshiping You today. Help us to surrender our lives to you unconditionally and let our thoughts, words and deeds be pleasing to You.

We lift our "Make It Right" Event before Your Throne. what a comfort to know that You are in control of this event and that You will "do it" as You promise those whom You call. You know our financial needs and You know every detail, but in obedience to Your Word we lift what we need before You. As it pleases You and in Your timing, thank you for providing underwriters, corporate sponsors and table sponsors as well as attendees for this event. Lord, You know that amounts that we have listed. We ask that You would provide.

We need willing Women of Vision to advertise and carry the flyers and post them around the Seattle Area, to contact corporations and friends. We need the liaisons between World Vision and corporations and donors who will ask for underwriting and sponsorships. We ask that You give boldness to each one as they offer the opportunity for corporations and individuals to be a part of this educational event that will make a difference in the lives of women and children in poverty to overcome oppression.

Lord, the bottom line is that we need You. Without You, this event will fall short. We need You to be our sufficiency, to bless our works, to overcome the resistant. We praise You for Your kindness and mercy in helping. We praise You for the miracles of tables sponsored and tickets purchased. We praise You for all that You are doing and will do to make this successful. We praise You that You will have Your way and that we will rejoice and be glad in what Your will is for this event.

In Jesus Name we pray. Amen
